What we back up
One account covers the computers on site and the services your practice already lives in.
On your machines
A small agent runs as a service on each machine and follows the plan you set in the web app.
- Windows, Linux and macOS Files and folders, including open files, through volume snapshots.
- OpenDental Application-aware: a consistent copy of the practice database together with the A-to-Z document and image folders, scheduled around office hours and verified by restoring into a fresh database.
- MySQL, MariaDB and SQL Server Consistent dumps of other on-site databases, on the same schedule as the files.
In your cloud apps
Nothing to install. You authorise the app once and our servers pull the data on a schedule.
- Clio Manage Contacts, matters, documents with every version, notes, calendars, tasks, bills.
- Clio Grow Leads, intake contacts and matters, inbox leads, notes.
- Google Workspace Gmail, Drive and Shared Drives, Docs and Sheets exports, Calendar, Contacts.
- Microsoft 365 Exchange mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint sites, Teams chats.

How it works
Four steps, the same for a laptop and for a mailbox.
Connect
Install the agent on each machine, or sign in to a cloud app and approve the connection. Plans, schedules and retention are set in one web app, never on the machine itself.
Snapshot
Each run produces an immutable point-in-time snapshot. Only data that changed since the last one is uploaded, so daily history costs a fraction of daily copies.
Keep
A retention policy per plan: keep the last few, then daily, weekly, monthly and yearly snapshots for as long as you choose. You see exactly what the next prune would remove before anything is removed.
Restore
Browse any snapshot and bring back a single file, folder, matter or mailbox, or the whole thing, to where it was, to another machine, or as a download.
Your data, your key
Backups exist for the worst day. They are built so that day is not made worse.
- Encrypted before it leaves
- Files are encrypted on your machine before upload, and cloud data is encrypted before it is written to storage. What we store is ciphertext.
- A key for each customer
- Every organisation has its own encryption key and its own storage space. A problem in one account cannot reach another.
- Snapshots that don't change
- A snapshot is never edited after it is written. Retention removes old ones on the schedule you set, and a grace period keeps a removed snapshot recoverable for a week.
- Legal hold
- Freeze any snapshot so that no policy, no user and no operator can remove it until the hold is lifted. Made for litigation holds and records-retention rules.
- Everything is logged
- Configuration changes, restores and every action by our staff land in an audit log you can read.
